Qatar National Day is celebrated on December 18th and does the city go all out. There are flags everywhere, people have their cars decorated, compounds are decorated and stores are having big promotions! On the actual day they have the world's largest fireworks show and people drive up and down the road with guys standing outside the sunroofs, it is crazy. Hannah's school was having a assembly to show some traditional customs that are done on Qatar National Day. It was an interesting hour and fun to see the kids get involved.
Here is a group shot of some local kids that go to Hannah's school in their traditional dress during the celebration.
Flags and pictures of the Emir everywhere!
Close up of the girls in their traditional dress for celebrations!
Some of the younger girls doing a traditional dance that is custom to do during celebration as well.
The men do a sword dance, so here are some younger boys doing the sword dance.
Here are some of the older girls doing a more advanced traditional dance, it was a great experience to see this!
Here are the older boys doing the sword dance, notice those are REAL swords and Hannah was sitting in the front row!!!
